COVID-19 accelerated the reliance on EdTech to deliver instruction, track student progress, and support the student academic journey. In 2020, the majority of students began to receive their instruction online. However, Underrepresented students were more likely to report a decline in the quality of their education during the switch. Furthermore, algorithmic bias, digital exclusion, and poorly designed technology threatened to only widen the equity gap.
Our blueprint standardizes student-facing education technologies, in a manner that is culturally responsive, and accounts for the differences BIPOC, low-income, and first-generation students face during their postsecondary journey. Our focus areas include UX, analytics, product design, product testing, interoperability, & product integration.
We helped our clients deliver targeted, tailored, student instruction and support in a manner enhanced by education technology tools. This was particularly critical during the COVID-19 pandemic where reliance on digital learning was accelerated. We also developed tools and standards that can help stakeholders critically evaluate the ability of a marketed software to close the equity gap, rather than sustain it.
